Scimitar is an early to medium maturity hybrid spineless burr medic which has shown outstanding production potential for the Gulf Coast and Southern regions of Texas. Scimitar provides a new option on highly saline soils which are not subject to prolonged water logging. It grows more erect, has higher level of soft seed and increased forage production compared to other burr medics. This variety will provide increased forage production and pest resistance for low to medium rainfall areas on a wide range of slightly acidic to alkaline soils. It will provide high quality feed for either hay, grazing, or wildlife purposes.
In addition, Scimitar is able to fix high rates of nitrogen, which is valuable for subsequent crop. Scimitar with its early production and re-seeding traits is the perfect medic to be inter-seeded into improved pastures.
In todays market, most clovers are sold pre-inoculated and coated. There are diffrent types of coatings as well as diffrent percentages of coating utilized. In order for companies to provide pre-inuculated seed, the seed is encapsulated in a clay, talc or other material to protect the inoculum. This process does add inert matter to the seed. Some companies utilize a 32%-34% coating, However many companies have began to utilze 50% coating to cheepen thiere products.
It is important for producer's to ask what percentage coating is on the seed, before they make thier purchace. The higher % of inert mater/coating the cheaper the seed per pound, but the higher the planting rate as well as cost per acre.
Our Prodcuts are pre-inoclatued and coated with a 32-34% coating "NOT" 50% as other companies.
